My little granddaughter

Margot

by Debbie D'Arcy

Her little eyes so sparkling
Her gaze so fixed and deep
Her new world just beginning
How can she be so sweet?

She lifts her head determinedly
And holds you with her eyes
They are so full of wonder yet
How can she be so wise?

She draws you in enticingly
You love her gentle smile
She knows how to enchant you yet
How does she lack such guile?

She's starting to discover more
Her back grows ever stronger
She sits and sees quite differently
How could she wait much longer?

She is so loved, so precious
And nurtured day by day
She returns that love so happily
How does she know the way?

But questions don't need answers
And poems can barely show
The mysteries that she brings to you
The sweetest soul - Margot
