Lacking in Skill

I weep atop an aimless quill
while blots of ink just smear in stain.
Where talent's lost in sad attempt,
another prompt I've failed in vain.

A poet's skill so lacking here.
I weep atop an aimless quill
and dream of days I'll craft in art
a worthy piece that words instill.

Perhaps reviews could guide my path,
enrich my mind with thoughts to weigh.
I weep atop an aimless quill
and cast such fruitless hopes away.

What genius am I missing here?
Will not my own desire fulfill
and gift me verse before again...
I weep atop an aimless quill.

Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.
