This is What Love is

It's peace and safety
Joy and contentment
Pain and sorrow
Hurt and resentment

It's laughter and comfort
Delight and amusement
Anger and frustration
Certainty and confusion

It's sweetness and romance
Jealousy and contrition
Chivalry and tenderness
Fights and suspicion

It's screaming and yelling
And whispered desire
Forgiveness and passion
Flame turns to fire

It's trust that still grows
Respect that we share
The lessons we learn
When we live as a pair

It's faith and commitment
A locking of eyes
A wanting a needing
A binding that ties

It's triumph and failure
Loyalty and tears
Talking and loving
And sharing our fears

It's caring and kindness
A magnetic connection
A sharing of souls
A warmth and protection

Through all this together
We dote and adore
This is what love is
This and much more
