I was at the store with my three-year-old daughter to return a pair of shoes I had bought for my boyfriend. The shoes were fine, it’s just that he royally disliked them.
"Is there anything wrong with them, ma'am?" the cashier asked. Noticing her cross pendant and realizing I was in the most catholic community that existed, I held my daughter up and told her that my husband didn't like the shoes. That’s when my little girl shouted, "That’s not true! Daddy's been away and he hasn't even seen these!”
I felt like someone had set my face on fire.
