The teacher says: “Words have energy. They have the power to heal, hurt, praise, or humiliate. Words can build one up or tear one down. They have the power of life and death. Words instilled into their ears prompted many teens to commit suicide. Some words can trigger—.”
"I don’t buy your crap,” a student interrupts in an arrogant tone. “Words are only the expression of the feelings or emotions which cause the hurt or the love. Just because I repeat to myself: ‘I’m happy, I’m happy, I’m so happy!’ doesn’t make me happy.
Words in themselves are powerless! They are merely… words."
The teacher smiles at the student, then coolly replies:
"You dumb moron, you’ll never get it, will you?"
The student turns crimson and starts a scathing repartee: "You’re a fake, a charlatan, you—"
The teacher swiftly raises his hand: "I apologize. I… I got carried away. Please accept my humblest apologies. Please…!"
The student calms down.
The teacher resumes: "Where was I? Oh! Yes, I was saying that some words may trigger great anger in a person, while other words can soothe or calm that same person down.”
The student suddenly gets it and bursts into laughter.
