Summer Frustrations

by Alina Clemens

I rode in the car, one fine sunny day…

Yeah right—it was raining, the world a dark gray.

I peered out the window as houses flew by,

at sidewalks awash with wet tears from the sky.

Small children squealed as they splashed with delight.

Didn’t they get that this rain was a plight?

Didn’t they know that summer was here?

Or, would be, if only these rain clouds would clear.

This untimely, miserable, rotten downpour,

has tested my patience until there’s no more.

How dare its foul gloominess spoil my good mood!

I think its long visit has been awfully rude.

â?¦I actually love rain and thunderstorms lol! But sometimes when you have plans for outside, the rain can be awfully inconvenient.
