A Shiver Of Sharks

by Lobber

Across vast expanse, a shiver of sharks takes flight ~

Silent shadows roam, beneath the moon's dim light.
Heralds of the seas, a fearsome sight to see,
In the depths, a shiver of sharks swims free.
Voracious predators, fast and stark,
Eagerly preying on prey in the dark.
Rippling currents, sleek and swift,

Onward, their course, a fearless drift.
Fierce guardians of their aquatic domain -

Sharp teeth gleaming, creating pain.
Harbingers of fear, in search of prey to chase ~
A ballet of power, at a frenzied pace.
Rulers of the seas, majestic and bold,
Kings of the underwater world, awesome to behold ~
Silent shadows attack as a shiver of sharks – unopposed.

Acrostic Poetry Contest contest entry

The collective noun for a group of sharks is a shiver of sharks.
Why shiver?
- is it due to what happens to you if you stumble upon a group of sharks while swimming? . . . or
- perhaps it relates to the fact that most sharks are cold-blooded.
