A Kyrielle in iambic tetrameter

I Thought It Was Spring

by June Sargent

Awake, prepared to sing my song,

I found the weatherman was wrong!

The sudden snowfall ruined my day.

I thought that spring was on its way!

My reputation is at stake ~

I won't bow down to a snowflake

that fell from skies not blue, but grey.

I thought that spring was on its way!

I'll warm my throat and serenade.

Enthusiasm will not fade -

nor will determination sway.

I thought that spring was on its way!
