Midnight Moon
by K.L. Rockquemore
Written in solidarity for those who have suffered a broken heart.
Midnight moon sinks
teardrops sear,
she lies in betrayal
her destiny
drear.
This too ~
shall pass.
Unloveable lips
a quivering chin,
torrent of sobs
drown from within.
This too ~
shall pass.
Sacred vows ravaged
her crimson heart bleeds,
lies cut to the bone
mercy she pleads.
This too ~
shall pass.
How could he?
Why would he?
she ponders aghast,
emotional cruelty
present and past.
This too ~
shall pass.
Midnight moon sinks
swollen eyes sting,
she curls up afraid
what tomorrow may bring.
Past is the tempest
she wakes before dawn,
her warrior spirit
with pride soldiers on.
