Catching up on the news ...

by Wendy G

My daughter phones me when she has opportunity. She is a great talker; I am a listener. Time passed; I heard all her news and views about everything, with a very occasional opportunity to comment. Suddenly there was an extremely loud bang.

“Gotta go!” There was a note of urgency.

“Are you alright?” No answer. I was anxious.

Hours later, another phone-call.

“I’ve been cleaning and scrubbing my whole apartment: floors, ceiling, and on, behind and under all the furniture, and I’ve washed all my curtains! I forgot I was boiling eggs while we chatted. They boiled dry and exploded!”

I wanted to call this ''Uneggspected eggsplosion'', but I didn't want to give away the ending!
