Heed Not

by DragonSkulls

Heed not the king that holds command,
that mock his peasant's wit with ruse,
dictating how to till their land
with reasoning that he so choose.

If by decree his power grows,
heed not the king that holds command.
Through his deceit, he overthrows
each adversary, keenly planned.

He'll seize the weapons from your hand
and claim it's for the kingdom's good.
Heed not the king that holds command
and steals the rights on which we stood.

His prince collects unrighteous gold
that's veiled beneath the kindred brand.
If lies outweigh the truths untold,
heed not the king that holds command.

Writing Prompt
A kyrielle is made of quatrains (four lines) that rhyme (any rhyme scheme can be used). Each stanza (quatrain) has a line that repeats from the previous stanza. That line is usually the last line in the stanza, but it does not have to be. Each line is made up of eight syllables. There is no limit to the number of stanzas. A Kyrielle is usually made up of three or more stanzas. For this prompt, a minimum of three stanzas is required.

A metaphor.
