Imagine how a tree feels.

A chapter in the book Meet the Gang

Sore Feet

by Michelle D. Carr

Mabel the Maple cried all night.

She waved for help with her long stem.

She called for help to ease her plight.

Her sore feet…she could not move them.

Mabel the Maple cried all night.

Red Cardinal ignored her pleas.

The squirrel wanted to ease her plight

But he was too small to bring ease.

Mabel  the Maple cried all night.

Her feet were trapped deep in the dirt.

She waved her branches in her fright.

But no one cared that her feet hurt.

Mabel the Maple cried all night.

The next day the gardener came.

He tried his best to set things right.

To pull her up would be a shame.

Mabel the Maple cried all night.

He tied her trunk up to his truck

What happened next was quite a sight.

Her feet are freed now from the muck!
