Skagway's Sacred Stream

Straddling Skagway's sacred silver stream;

September sunshine saturates spray scrawled silhouettes.

Stolen sapphires, seldom seen, splash silently serene.

Shimmering sharpened stones slash struggling spawning salmon;

Stubborn self sacrificing sex steered stoics,

Stouthearted suitors sowing successors survival seeds.

Somber spasmodic swaying signals sentients supreme surrender.

Shattered speckled scales supplant sacred spawning sand.

Someday soon succeeding salacious salmon shoals shall swarm Skagway's sacred stream.
