Ode To My Marbles

by Wils

Ode Poem Contest Winner

They roll around inside my head

I’ve lost a few, it has been said

They are the marbles of my brain

A piece of thought path they remain

Every reaction they control

Backward and forward they do roll

My brain cells do what they do best

Making decisions without rest

From how to breathe and make it last

Knowledge of things that long time past

Memory bank all shut up tight

That is when they are working right

They’re overworked without respect

Some slacken, what do we expect

When there’s a chance of great escape

They break free to the world’s landscape

The marbles become less and less

Leaving the brain in great distress

To those that decide to remain

A toast to you, no more brain strain
