Finding Your Muse Club Event - Work of Art
Moody Blues
by K.L. Rockquemore
Scarlet silk robe
falls from her shoulders draping planks of aged oak “Mademoiselle, if you please," he gestures ~ natural light filters from above her vulnerability exposed, like a broken winged dove she comes to rest into a velvety settee. In silence
she poses as persistent torment weighs upon her bowed head unable to quell, wrapped in fragility she contemplates life how it has defined her. Endless love
forever faded reflection reveals internalized dejection ~ her heart now sealed no tears left to cry nor tears left to hide. Hues of cobalt
shape sensual Tahitian curves pieced together with masterful fluidity ~ painting with paper fragments sculpted becoming whole a figure emerges needing to heal her soul. Percipient eyes
see what alludes her fiery spirit
stoic and bold ~ a heart more pure than new-fallen snow will once again open
releasing her woe.
Portrait of blues
nearly complete
he offers a smile
his warmth
brightens her expression
uplifting the mood
her essence ~ his muse.

Finding Your Muse Club Event last week was to choose any work of art
and write what you see, want you feel, or create a narrative.
I selected Blue Nude #2 from my favorite French artist, Henri Matisse.
My intention was to write this verse as if the image was a real woman
that he invited to come to his studio and pose.
She is heartbroken and depressed, however Matisse see's her in a
different light.
I wanted to paint a picture of their session from beginning to end.
Henri Matisse, a French neo-impressionist expressive artist developed
his paper cut out technique because abdominal surgery left him unable
to stand and paint.
His love of Tahitian sculpture influenced the Blue Nudes and his work
towards the end of his career. He died on November 3, 1954 at 84.
