Something lost contest entry

No More Than We Can Bear

Is faith a thing that one can lose?
The answer's harsh yet crystal clear.
While taught through life to not confuse
the wayward path our souls hold dear.
 
When woes are more than hearts can take,
is faith a thing that one can lose?
I long to trust that love won't break
no matter what that heart pursues.
 
But when your daughter's thoughts confuse
what's right or wrong and dies therein,
is faith a thing that one can lose
if might her sorrows led to sin?
 
Where is this faith I should recall?
And is it fate I should excuse?
My baby died on fentanyl.
Is faith a thing that one can lose?
