Eroding a relationship

Hurtful Anger

by LisaMay

He gave me a piece of his mind
in harsh words that were so unkind,
so I lost my own peace of mind –
now my self esteem I can't find.

I've lost what I thought to be true:
that our love would see us both through.
Now his words have cut me in two –
left in shreds the peace that I knew.

It's gone and he killed our love dead,
with the impact of what he said.
It'll happen again, I dread.
Will a fist be next, instead?

I have lost that calm safety zone
that lovers create for their own.
Together they're strong, not alone.
I fear the cruel side that he's shown.
