Over the generations, we lose our connection to the past

It seems to me today that the world is moving on, for better or worse, away from its foundations and roots, and our country is moving on with it. People's values have changed, the causes they support have shifted, their respect for the values of another time have faded. We are caught up in living day to day, absorbed in our selves, obsessed with making money, as if that were more important than anything else. And we see it in how faded these old monuments are, how people pass by them without a respectful nod, how they tear down someone else's monuments without a thought to the feelings of others, just like the iconoclasts of the past. We haven't really changed. We just value different things. estory
