Writing Prompt
Write a 4-8-4 poem on any topic. Your poems first line has 4 syllables. Second line has 8. Final line has 4.


A commissar is an officer in a secret police unit (think KGB or Gestapo). This poem describes one of the intimidation tactics utilized by secret police in many authoritarian regimes. They would break into someoneĆ¢??s home (without damaging any doors or windows), place an ashtray they brought on a table, light up a cigarette, and after taking some drags leave it behind for the owners to see.
