There was a gathering of some degree
for the elite or the twee
I stood alone nervously
something was nagging me
Other friends looked so serene
well-dressed almost 'cream of the cream'
they seemed part of a team
which did not include me

Not that this occurred every day
in fact I am popular in my way
it's just my thoughts decided to stay
on what was troubling me
is it time for me to run
do they see what I've done
hubby appears and says 'How come
your dress is so dirty?"

"It's that flaming elderly pooch
likes to dig and then to smooch
today I tried to look my best
now she has ruined my best dress."
