A loop poem
Time to Mend
The humming of a chainsaw wanes
Wanes to silence, deep and vast
Vast the ancient tree that falls
Falls with wisdom of the past
Past mistakes may seal our fate
Fate depends on little time
Time is fleeting fast, I fear
Fear the outcome of greed's climb
Climb for power, scales of lust
Lust that leaves the mountains scarred
Scarred by hands that wound the earth
Earth that we are meant to guard
Guard the ground so it may thrive
Thrive within a change of ways
Ways of old that dim the light
Light a path from darkened days
Days of breathing tainted air
Air polluted by the crowds
Crowds our lungs and fills the sky
Sky obscured by man made clouds
Clouds that fill the lakes and streams
Streams that flow to rivers near
Near the toxic growth and waste
Waste invades what once was clear
Clear the haze of smog and breathe
Breathe new life, begin to learn
Learn that if we care for Earth
Earth will care for us, in turn
