Anything for Family

by Jaysa Manning

Anything for family
"Mama I'm worried about you"
She tell me she is fine
My mama loves to dine
My mama really loves wine
"Mama please wake up"
There is throw up on the floor
And some by the door
I had hoped there wasn't more
"Mommy please promise me"
She has been doing good for a week
There seemed to be no leak
Then I smelled a reek
"Mommy I'll give you one pass"
She had been going behind my back
Self control she lacked
Her care for me was cracked
"Mom you hurt me"
I cried out with fear
But mom had no tears
Only ones of self pity and guilt tripped tier
"Mom you've hurt me more that once"
Offense to that she had took
While she made my body shook
Being wrong was never in her book
"Mother I'm moving out"
Sadness overcomes her
Depression and anxiety stir
Me leaving she deters
"Sara, I'm not going to stay in contact"
With this I say and run
Before I become spun
I have finally won
But both of us gained none
"Dear Mother, I'm sorry"
She is family after all
Maybe I can start again small
3 years later, I watch myself fall
