Inspiration is hard to come by

When you live a solitary life

You don’t experience anything

Except maybe the sting of a knife

Not every day you feel it

Just most of the time

And those days you don’t do it

Feel like a worsening crime

Because you're just faking it now

You have to be, right?

You can’t ever feel ok

Your life can’t be that bright

Because if you ever feel better

For even a day

"What did you gain?"

Your head likes to say

"You pushed away friends

And family members too

You are so alone now

And it was all done by you"

So if you suddenly feel fine

You blame yourself completely

Because who else is there to accuse?

"No one," your mind says sweetly

Writing Prompt
Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.

I thought it would be good to use an old poem for this contest. Though I am better now, I suffered from severe depression in the past, and have a couple more disturbing poems. And it does feel good to see how my poetry has evolved since then!
