Winter's Call

by Videl Sky

When winter hits
Life starts to die
It doesn't wilt quickly
But with a prolonged sigh
-
The bare branches shake
With sounds of rattling bones
The wind blows strong
And the tree painfully moans
-
I’m in the winter of my life
All colors fade to grey
When I lose the will to fight
No longer will I stay
-
Go softly towards the end
Or should I try to flee
This exhausting sorrow
That’s pressing down on me
-
The light in my eyes
Starts to rapidly wane
You can see into my soul
The pool of darkness I have lain
-
When you see me there
You stop in your tracks
The person I was is gone
All that’s left are the cracks
