A dog's life should be full of cuddles

Spoiled Again!

by Claire Tennant

Oh, dear, I’ve seen the look before

as he waits impatiently at the door

demanding in his spoiled pooch way

to come inside and play

if I give in to please

all thoughts of exercise will cease

“No, my friend you stay outside

it’s rare when your requests are denied.”

---------------------------------------------

I leave the scene to prepare

for a constitutional; if I dare

the phone rings, I hesitate

but answer because I won’t be late

a dear friend a long chat

what could be wrong with that?

except for the proverbial weather pain

that’s right the heavy rain

--------------------------------------------

Quickly I run to the back door

frenzied yelping is a bore

but instead of woofing, “Thanks, that’s great.”

he to his bowl gravitates

soaking wet but full of glee

he races to sit on my knee

and I the fur child mother give in

the chances of scolding are somewhat slim
