The Story of Us

Could there be a book 

somewhere out-there 

that holds all of the thoughts 

that I thought but then

forgot?

If I can remember that it existed, 

can a thought ever really be gone?

If not, then 

if I can think back to a time when, 

at what point 

does a moment really ever end?

If you can reflect 

on the time that we spent together 

before you left,

then would it be true 

if I were to say 

that from wherever you are 

Today

you still love me?

Maybe you know of a book 

somewhere 

since you’re out-there

that holds The Story of Us

and I can find it and open it up

on longer days like these 

when I’m most lonely.
