Reflecting on hard times

Darkness

Immersed in darkness,
Blanketed by despair.
Light extinguished,
Robbed...rejected...repelled.
At home in blackness,
Pain a loyal and familiar friend.
A tiny flicker,
a glare, a gleam, a glow.
Illuminating the void,
Igniting the beacon within.
