Do I really have to work today

by Mark Jackson

Do I really have to work today
I'm not ill but, I'm not terribly well
My bed's so warm, I would rather just stay

Work is hard, I get too little in pay
My soul declares no, with every nerve cell
Do I really have to work today

I think that's a tickle, in my airway
Maybe I should just roll over and dwell
My bed's so warm, I would rather just stay

Customers are rude and I wish that they
Would all agree to hit the road to hell
Do I really have to work today

I don't want to phone in, have my boss say
Excuses, excuses, consistent bagatelle
My bed's so warm, I would rather just stay

If I do not move the worry will weigh
I will get the sack, a final death knell
Do I really have to work today
My bed's so warm, I would rather just stay

Not funny but funny writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a humorous or silly poem about something you dislike. Any style of poetry is welcomed. Length is up to you. See announcement for ideas.

No matter how hard I attempt to write a serious villanelle they come out sounding funny. Fortunately this one was tongue in cheek from the start, we have all had that Monday morning feeling.
Villanelle:
A French verse form consisting of five three-line stanzas and a final quatrain, with the first and third lines of the first stanza repeating alternately in the following stanzas. These two refrain lines form the final couplet in the quatrain.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
