Two lambs make a discovery

Two Colors

by LoAnn Beery

Luna left the flock one day

To find a special place.

The other lambs were mean to her,

And Luna needed grace.

Luna's fleece was snowy white

And her sweet face was black.

So, other sheep made fun of her;

They always gave her flack.

"You need to be one color, girl",

The other sheep would say.

But Luna looked just beautiful,

Her Mommy said each day.

So, on her trip that sunny morn,

When she just needed peace,

She wondered just what she could do

To make their comments cease.

Over by the tree-line fence

Some other sheep were grazing.

And Luna noticed one small lamb

That at her, he was gazing.

His fleece was black and shiny

And his face; a soft white patch.

She thought of what the mean sheep said

And knew she found her match.

He grabbed some clover, as he ran

To meet a new white friend.

And Luna was so very glad

Her heart could try to mend.

And that's how Luna found a pal

Who didn't believe in spite.

The most important thing, by far,

She wasn't black or white.
