Bananas Soar, Plantains Bore

May I have a moment of your time,
so you can read a fine fruit rhyme?
Bananas are a luscious treat,
and very good for you to eat.

My accolades have just begun,
they're chock-full of potassium!
They sport a lovely yellow skin,
they're portable, so dig right in!

They're versatile, don't ask me why,
but they blend well in cake and pie.
Paired with PB, bread, and honey,
a winning trio, it's not funny!

Apples each day keep Docs away
is what I've always heard them say.
Bananas though, are quite a thing,
they always make my tastebuds sing!

With vitamins, B6 and C,
and fiber that "moves" me regularly,
Bananas have magnesium
with collagen to help your skin.

On cereal or into bread,
they are the best, just like I said!
Of this fine fruit, I've said enough,
now I'll move on to other stuff.

Green plantains can not be trusted,
thinking of them, I'm disgusted!
More like a veggie than a fruit,
their color's ugly green to boot.

They're starchy and they must be peeled
with a knife, and I'm not thrilled.
They're sinister, pose as a fruit,
suspicion of them's taken root.

To eat plantains, they must be cooked,
I won't give them a second look!
Cause cooking isn't my forte,
from plantains, I will stay away!

Most people do not covet gains,
they're high caloric; green plantains.
Eat them a lot and you will rue,
the fact that there's much more of you!

Not to mention green plantains,
gave me gas and stomach pains.
Do not be fooled when you go shop,
and at the fruit aisle, you stop.

Those vile, skinny, green pretenders,
want to be yellow-sweet contenders.
Stick to lovely yellow fruit,
and give those green plantains the boot!

Writing Prompt

Write a poem about how bananas are the best fruit ever, and about how green plantains cannot be trusted. Your poem must include both components (bananas good, green plantains bad).

You may skip the word "green" if you want as long as you differentiate between bananas and plantains. Referring to cooked/fried/boiled plantains as good is acceptable. Non-baptized plantains however are bad and must be referred to as such.

Rhyming and standard meter are recommended but not required.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
