Mischief

by HarryT

In our bedroom, my brother and I were unleashed
Crayons in hand on the wall a colorful masterpiece
On to the kitchen where we had a flour fight
Covered head to toe like ghosts, a kid's delight

Ripping newspaper, confetti tossed into flight,
Giggles and laughs exploded in pouring sunlight
Forever cast in our memory that muddled mess
The bedlam we knew mom would crossly redress

For the moment, we enjoyed the chaos a while yet
Now I realize only children find joy in a messy upset
Mom’s, of course, ensnared us, we had to confess
Punishment: No TV for a week and clean up the mess

But still to this day, we smile and enjoy the memory
Of the day we created those nasty messes so brazenly
