The Adventures Of A Lost Sock

She pined as she sat on the shelf
feeling quite sorry for herself
she did not know where he'd gone
and she had waited so long
her friends were close beside her
never did they chide her
still, they went to work
from that, they could not shirk
each day, when the boss came
she would hang her head in shame
for she neither wanted to disappoint
nor weep and self-anoint
she asked herself, 'Where can he be?'
he always but always accompanies me
then quite suddenly
she saw a glimpse almost fleetingly
her sadness gave way to joy
as she recognised the impish boy
Ah, such a tale I know you will mock
for today, I found my missing pink sock
