True Faithfulness

Faithful is the mountain rock
That holds strong day by day,
Stands steadily through fiercest winds
That cause tall trees to sway . . .
Until the mountain slides.

Faithful is the lamp that shines
To bring from shadows, light,
And makes it possible to see
Within the darkest night . . .
Until the power fails.

Faithful is the dearest friend,
Who shares your joys and sorrows,
Who knows the secrets of your past,
Your hopes for your tomorrows . . .
Until he loves no more.

Faithful is the little dog,
That listens when you talk
And climbs to cuddle in your lap
Or joins you for a walk . . .
Until he leaves.

From age to age, has God stood firm,
And falter will He, never.
No other's power is like His,
That will endure forever.
There is no faithfulness like God's.

God's love is never changeable,
His goodness, mercies - sure,
And if we put our trust in Him,
Eternity's secure.
There is no faithfulness like God's.
