President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation
on January 1, 1863, supposedly ending slavery...it was not
executed until June 19, 1865. Meanwhile, young America
celebrated it most glorious victory on July 4, 1776, and has
annually since repeated the tradition. What did/do Negroes/
Blacks (respectively) have to celebrate this particular day/date?
June 19, 1865 is Blacks "birth" of freedom.
