Your Eyes Tell Me

by Shirley Ann Bunyan

Acrostic Poem Contest Winner

Your paws flop-plop, one-two, in turn,
Occurring often, begging for a treat,
Unceremoniously keen to earn
Rewards or just a friendly way to greet.

Employing a wagging tail conveys your joy.
You cannot help but swish it side to side,
Especially hearing master say, “Good boy.”
Such words are doggie music amplified.

Two ears prick up to let me know you hear
Enticing words like ‘dinner time’ or ‘walkies.’
Leave’ orders or a ‘No’ bring doggie tears.

Low, ‘poor me’ whining always wins our ‘talkies’.

Much more than all the other signs, your tawny
Eyes show all the love your heart beholds for me.
