Horns honked in the street below. Rubbing sleep from his thirty-five- year old eyes, Jake fumbled on his bedside table to find his phone.
Scrolling down, a blue screen appeared.
‘Damn it,’ he muttered,’ ‘ Global Glitch?’
Grandma’s old chimer in the lounge rang out five bells for 5 a.m. ‘Thanks Gran,’ he muttered, checking his tech.
His apartment was strangely quiet. No charger blue lights or wake up call from Alexa.
‘Digital dystopia?’ he muttered
