A thrift store portrait reveals its owner's dark fate.
Portrait of the Donor
by Patty Mazzurco
In the dusty corner of the thrift store, Lucy found a peculiar portrait of a woman with kind eyes and bought it for a dollar.
That night, the woman in the painting whispered dark secrets. Lucy returned to the store and discovered a ledger with names, including hers: “Owner: Lucy, donated 1985.” Her heart raced as the portrait’s eyes glowed red.
She screamed, but it was too late—she was pulled into the canvas.

This is the contest that actually brought me back to the site. I saw posted a couple days ago and kept thinking and thinking about it and I'm currently an owner of a thrift store/eBay store so of course this always plays on my mind . Thank you for reading. I look forward to returning to this space for more creative challenges
