coloring your soul

The Heart As A Darkened Canvas

by jim vecchio

The color of a punch in the stomach

The deep stripe of a spear passing through your heart

The hue of a sledgehammer slashing through

The painting of your soul as it falls apart

The glow of a day you cannot face

When life imbues you with such deep sorrow

When dark shade dims your eyes, tormenting so

When anguish blooms, in disguise of morrow

When there are no bright skies hovering above

No pigment can cloak the loss of your love
