A man is obsessed with the moon
Obsessed with the Moon
As sailboats race to reach the shore,
the sunset frames the ocean's door.
The last of blue has left the sky,
and shades of dusk are standing by.
When dusk's gray fingers start to spread,
they'll tuck the sunset into bed.
For now champagne is being poured.
The winner hoists his new award.
The city night's electric flow,
suppresses stars that want to glow.
As moon reflects on quiet swells,
she puts lost sailors under spells.
All sailors know that there's a risk,
that winds won't always be so brisk.
The sailors use the calm moonlight,
to brighten features of the night.
He gets up from the bench he's on,
as night surrenders to the dawn.
Too soon, the day will start anew.
The sun will melt the morning dew.
A yellow sunrise will appear,
and night will leave the atmosphere.
The moon is hiding, he is lost,
and wonders if she's worth the cost.
He doesn't know, he has no clue.
He watches her the whole night through.
Perhaps someday he'll figure out,
just what the moon is all about.
She says that he should not forget,
that he has paid his lunar debt.
The first night that he fin'ly slept,
into his dreams the moonlight crept.

As many of you know, I had back surgery on August 22. My recovery is painful and slow. I'm in rehab right now and probably will be for at least another month. While I'm here it's very hard to review and write, but I had this one written up beforehand so now I'm posting it.
