Fall's Farewell

A backward glance, she waves goodbye
To the season she holds so dear
She cannot stay, no need to try
The cold wind says winter is near

Her colors all begin to slip
A backward glance, she waves goodbye
Her leaves get weak and lose their grip
And in the wind, they learn to fly

The trees all give a mournful sigh
And watch their dearest friend depart
A backward glance, she waves goodbye
She holds back tears, it breaks her heart

It's sad to see her graceful end
To watch her beauty slowly die
With care she hides her tears and then
A backward glance, she waves goodbye
