It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Florence was a kind fairy who lived at the North Pole.
Recently, she had been worried about Santa.
One week before Christmas, and everything was going wrong.
The toy conveyor belt had broken down.
The elves were on strike for more pay. Three reindeer were lame.
Today, Santa had packed in early and retired to his cosy cottage.
He needed a quiet night, undisturbed.
The doorbell rang. Santa cursed.
Florence, clutching a Christmas tree, beamed.
"I've brought you a cheer-up gift. Where would you like me to stick it?"
