Poem about writing a book.

Oh, you are...are you?

by Sharon Combs

You are, are you?

You are writing a book,  or so you thought

Ninety thousand words, then bam, it's bought

You are aware there are guidelines and rules to follow,

outlines and drafts, so much it makes me want to holler!

You are still sane after you get the first feedback

However, it's the revisions that bring on my Zantacs

Revise and develop each section at a time

What was I thinking? Was I losing my mind?

You are writing a book, or so you say

Maybe you should have thought this thing out

Did you ask about the pay?

Regardless, you're too deep in, so there's no need to pout.

In reality, yes, I am writing a book.

And  I am in deep, I admit I am hooked.

Some tried to tell me to keep my job, just in case.

However,  I'm blessed to be retired, and out of that race.
