love expressed without words
Between the Heartbeats
It’s the silence I notice most—
the quiet that slips between the heartbeats,
in the space where we don't need words.
You speak with your eyes,
and I hear you
in the pause before your breath catches.
In that stillness,
I find the weight of all the things
we never say out loud,
like the way your hand grazes mine
just long enough
to leave its imprint,
not on my skin but somewhere deeper,
where time doesn't touch.
Between the heartbeats,
there’s a universe we’ve built
out of moments that barely exist,
a glance, a sigh, the brush of your shoulder—
small things
that hold the gravity of everything
we are.
And when the world presses in,
demanding noise,
I wait for the next heartbeat,
where you and I will meet again
in the quiet,
where love doesn’t need to speak
to be heard.
