O wretched tree how can this be,
I stand condemned while you are free?
Your fruit tastes nice, I was enticed
to see those things that come high priced.

O woe is me that wretched tree,
temptation's fare blindsided me,
my innocence...rebellion's price,
for now I know sin's guile and vice.

Like new born babes, we, naked ran,
in beauty's way we had no plan;
in peace we walked with Father God
as stewards, tended Eden's sod.

But we, cast out, are clothed in furs,
in cold and heat we wear Earth's curse.
The serpent said like God we'd be,
once heirs, now shod in death's decree.

But now we have to weed and work,
wild beasts we fear, dark shadows lurk.
Poor Eve cries out -- with pain gives birth,
while I combat this curse called Earth.

(As they left the garden)
I heard God's voice cry out in grief,
"I'll find you Adam, have belief,
that serpent's curse I will remove,
your life restore and freedom prove,"

"The serpent's head my Child will crush,
His heel will bruise...avenger's rush.
A virgin's fruit will recompense,
and pay the price of sin's offence.
