Unfortunate forest fires on a beautiful island

Madeira Island

by Todd Bourgeois

Island lined with wood
sings five hundred year old songs.
Trees cry as they burn.

Tree-Hugger 5-7-5 writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem with 5-7-5 syllables about a tree, trees or forest.

Madiera literally translates to wood in english. The island is covered in beautiful trees where people cannot inhabit. Unfortunately, where there's such natural beauty, there are equal natural (and unnatural) disasters. Forest fires burn hundreds of acres of tress every year. Fortunately, they grow back and continue with the natural beauty of the island.
