The door slammed, it echoed all the way down the hall,
Then came the screams, I knew tears would soon start to fall.
Brother Mick had caught someone 'tempting to break free,
These Boardin' School rules they were way too stern for me.
I was just a young lad from a sheep farm a long, long way out west
Who was taught by my Mum an' Dad to always try an' to do my best.
Truth is I wasn't real smart. an' I near failed ev'ry written test.
That's why today, I'm super-chilled, an' never suffer from getting stressed.
But I've been known to exaggerate, sometimes maybe even lie a little bit,
But there's two things I never do, I don't give in, an' I never ever quit.
All those years ago, Brother Mick taught one thing I still practice to this day.
If you believe what you're doin's right, don't never, ever walk away.
My memories of those long gone days, they still flutter in my mind,
Every so often I still recall the many whacks I copped on my bare behind.
The days of the school picnics, an' the times when not in class.
An' the days we spent working, in the dairy, the fields or mowing grass.
Truth is they made me, who I am today. An' they taught me how to pray.
They were tough old Bastards, but we sure needed to straighten up our ways
All those years ago, Brother Mick taught one thing, I still practice to this day.
If you believe that what you're doin's right, don't never, ever walk away.
