Parody of Lee Greenwood's song God Bless The USA

Ode To A Perfect Season

by ~Dovey

An entry for The Best Damn Sports Parody Contest
Remember back in the good old days,

when they barely won any games?

Now they are called America's team,

and we all know their names.

Brady finds Moss in the end zone,

all of New England is going wild.

But, do the rest of us really want to hear,

about his mistress and his child?

I'm proud to be an American,

but the Patriots aren't my team.

One more word about their perfect season,

and I think I'm going to scream!

Today I'm rooting for the Jags,

to defeat them when they play.

We're all fans of imperfection,

God bless the USA!

From where I live in Alaska,

to the islands of Hawaii.

We're uniting against the Patriots,

from sea to shining sea.

We're born to love their colors.

What's an NFL fan to do?

When they've made it hard to stand,

the sight of red, white, and blue.

I'm proud to be an American,

but the Patriots aren't my team.

One more word about their perfect season,

and I think I'm going to scream!

Today I'm rooting for the Jags,

to defeat them when they play.

We're all fans of imperfection,

God bless the USA!

When I went to high school,

the North Pole Patriots were my team.

Now when I hear that name,

I simply want to scream!

But, they have united this country,

to support one common goal.

Please God, grant us this one prayer,

no Patriots in the Super Bowl!

I am a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan (although I have never been to Phillie) who grew up in the very small town of North Pole, Alaska. In the past I've never actually been Anti-Patriots. It's just that no one person or organization is really THAT perfect, are they?

WTG to the NY Giants and all their fans! Winning the Super Bowl and stealing the New England Patriots "Perfect Season" will go down as probably the greatest moment in sports for this decade!
