Looking back, what do I see

Multi-colored memories

Times both happy and sad

Led to the growth I’ve had

Tortuous times have taught me

How to live authentically

Periods of trouble and despair

Brought to me ability to care

A smile, a kind word

Perhaps a song I heard

Can bring grace to my day

Didn’t use to live that way

Previously life did involve

Material possessions to solve

Always feeling life was rough

I was not good enough

Now there is acceptance

Life is not happenstance

Striving for gratitude

Seeking positive attitude
