Dad I'm sorry

by s.m.kirby

Oh how life can hurt us so,
if only there was a way to know
Just what lie around the bend
The broken hearts we could try to mend
Dad I'm sorry, I was blind
I don't know what was on my mind
Guess I thought God would see us through
And you would get better, just like Boo
Dad you weren't suppose to die
Now everyday I think of you and cry
I pray for a way to tell you I love you
And ask for your forgiveness too
But you are in Heaven, and I am here
And I guess I'll keep living with the fear
That you passed away hating me
Because I was dumb and didn't see
That God could close his eyes, and take your life
Away from your children and your wife
Now I don't know what I'm going to do
For everyday I'm still missing you

Feelings Poetry writing prompt entry

Emotions have overcome us all at one time or another. It could be from someone that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Write a poem that expresses feelings and emotions such as anger or depression. Any type of poem is welcomed.

I wrote this the day after my father passed away,I know that he loved me and he knew that I loved him and God answered our prayers for healing in a different way than he did for my son boo who beat cancer.God knows what is best for all his children
