Bea discovers a dirt path

A chapter in the book Be Wee With Bea

The Dirt Path

by Liz O'Neill

Bea loved the adventure of going into untrodden territory and actually finding her way back home. To get back to that lovely pine forest, she decided to take her new shortcut, the dirt path. The curious wee bear stopped short when noticing the path had footprints on it. Could some other creature have discovered this pathway too? The prints looked to be that of a wee bear going toward Bea's home.

To her remembrance, there had been no such creature. Trying her feet for size in the prints, they were her very own wee bear prints. How exciting to know paw prints were still there even after she had left the path. More impressions were made in the soft dirt. Bea walked off the path a distance and quickly returned to see if any prints were still there. They were.

She felt so proud to imagine others, traveling along this path, coming upon her prints, and knowing they were the famous footprints of Bea the wee bear. Wondering if this path had a name, in her gleeful wee bear heart, it would from hereon in be named Bea's Golden Path.

This brought her so much happiness; the joyful bear returned time and time again. Sometimes, lots of jumbled markings were left from other creatures, who had finally happened upon her discovery. Other times, the playful whistling wind had erased them. This did not discourage Bea; this determined bear would keep coming back.

One of her rigorous STROLLING exercises brought Bea to a new area she'd never visited before. It was a path which became very important to her.
My gratitude for Corrinas Creations for the picture of a coincidentally named Golden Path.
